Movement Healing

Movement healing offers an awesome synergy of therapeutic movement and Energy Medicine in motion! Yoga and Dance are both as old as the ages, and are a form of true healing we have lost touch with in our culture.

Although I am currently not taking any more clients for private movement sessions, the  YOGA TRANCE DANCE group class more than meets the need for creative expression, and therapeutic release.

Ascendance Movement Healing combines ancient wisdom and Modern FUN!

Testimonials

"Darling Emily! Your [Yoga Trance Dance] workshop last night was incredibly beautiful. I thought I was going to be all sore today and I woke up feeling full of energy and had a fantastic day for twelve hours. I'm ready for more!"
--Mauricio Bustamante, Actor/Acting Teacher at Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute

“I began working with Emily Butler during a time when I was looking for a balance of fun, exercise, and healing in my life. I was sick of running on a treadmill and lifting weights. I wanted to get my body moving, but have fun doing it. My sessions with Emily were unlike anything I've found before, or since. She gave me the benefits of a personal trainer, the emotional healing of a therapist, and the physical healing of an acupuncturist. Her at-home sessions are like having a movement class followed by a spa treatment, all in your living room. The hours after my sessions with Emily were, unequivocally, the best I felt all week. Emily was always in-tune with how I was feeling, and tailored my sessions to what I needed on that day. The balance of dance, yoga and energy medicine depended completely on how I was feeling, and what I could handle. She introduced new ideas with every session -- different kinds of dance, stress-relief techniques, energy healing exercises, etc. Emily is not only an expert in her field, she is a blast to work with, and her positive energy is contagious!”

“I recently had an amazing energy session with Emily, the owner and creator of Ascendance Fitness. I was very impressed by her knowledge and mastery of energy medicine, dance, and yoga. The session itself was highly enjoyable, relaxing, nurturing, and balancing for me. I felt completely centered emotionally and physically after my workout and I continued to feel that way for multiple days later. Emily’s gentle spirit, artistic soul, and creative mind make her abilities as a healer and intuitive more effective and nurturing.”

“Emily Butler was a yoga student at Urban Yoga studio in Saratoga Springs, NY from the Fall of 2001 - July 2005. During this time Emily maintained a very progressive and consistent yoga practice and became one of our favorite and most loyal yoga students. One of the things I noticed with Emily, as a yoga student, is that whenever she took our classes, she was really listening to what we were saying, rather than just going through the motions. During the summer of 2005 Emily took our Urban Yoga teacher training program. Emily is a born teacher, and is one of the best yoga teacher candidates I have taught. She is able to communicate directions clearly in a soothing and inspiring way, which makes the practitioner/client feel comfortable and relaxed. In 2005, I moved to Seattle and asked Emily to take over some yoga classes for me. I received several emails from my students thanking me for bringing Emily into the yoga teaching community. Emily is a kind, nice, and likable person, I highly recommend her as a yoga teacher and as someone who is very dependable. All the best,
—Mark T. Kinder, Owner Anhad Yoga

Even though we are all born as natural dancers (just watch a toddler instinctually respond to rhythm), dance can easily get swept under the seeming demands of 21st-century living. Due to all that sitting, standing, driving, cell phoning, computer or cyber time, we have this strange combination of being more physically bound while mentally scattered-- a body/mind split. The antidote: Our body needs to move and our internal state needs to be rejuvenated through meditation and ecstatic embodiment."
